How the Semantic Web will Bring the Future?

Building a smart semantic search engine is now the goal of many startups and well established companies in the search domain. They are simply trying to build the next search machine that would understand user's needs using the simple input queries and through extensive analysis of structured or semi-structured data the search engine should provide answers from the Internet. The concept is relatively simple but it even adds several magnitudes of complexity to the current generation of search engines.
Search engines will have to do more data processing, structuring and links analysis prior to making them searchable using users queries. Also users' queries will be extensively analyzed to map them to reasonable meanings and interpret them in the context that the user need them to be in. For example, searching for a movie may implicitly tell that you are looking for showcase cinemas in addition to this movie's trailer, reviews, and official website if this movie is just released. If it is on a DVD already, this will imply that you might be interested in renting the DVD in addition to the same information about it.

Semantic search engines are the next smart creature that many researchers and startups are working on making it a reality. Many websites and engines already come into the market to prove the viability of this idea and grap a fair market share. I will talk about them and critique their business and search models as I do more postings.

A Vision for the Semantic Web
I have a vision of a thinking machine that would actually play the role of a personal assistant not only while you are setting in front of your computer and asking questions, but also while you talk with people and looking at objects around you. So imagine a small computer embedded  in your glasses or watch telling you details about any item or person you encounter and would like to know more about. This model would require years and years of data anlysis and also long years from the Internet to evolve into that inteligently linked system and data so that machines can reason content meanings and the links between them, which is typically Bernand Lee's vision about the semantic web. It needs that both the content and the search engines to iteratively evolve towards this goal and this would take a long time to happen.

I established this blog to record my experience of building semantic search tool as a model for the next generation of global assistants. I'm just trying to stretch the meaning of semantic search engine through a prototypcial project.

However, there is something different here. You will be contributing to what this next search tool should provide. I will help in writing down the main features and how they should be provided (mostly from the business perspective but the technical side cannot be ignored as well).  We should collaboratively think of this engine and well as we will all harvest the fruits together!

So the starting point is Wikipedia...........
Wikipedia is one of the greatest collaborative projects that reflects the mode of the Internet users. It is the biggest collaborative project on earth right now and it is one of the mostly visited websites. In addition, it has tons of data and information that can be used as a core intelligence inside Qoory search engine. I will talk about it mostly in my next post. However, keep an eye on it and think how can Wikipedia be utilized for a smarting searching.
